Outdoor Family Games You Can Carry With You

Average Rating: Not Yet Rated

With the summer season coming rapidly toward us, and schoolchildren in their last weeks of school, many families are once again thinking about a family vacation. Many families will be saving money by staying at campgrounds in tents, cabins, or travel trailers. There are lots of games that can be purchased inexpensively at discount or sports stores and that won’t take up too much of that precious cargo space.

Equipment for games such as badminton (like tennis, except that the rackets and net are lighter, and one uses birdies instead of balls), horseshoes, and croquet are easy to find and often come in travel bags. You many also be able to equipment for more than one game being sold in the same package.

Remember to bring some balls, depending on what you like to play. Some recommended choices are a playground ball (always a good idea), softball, baseball, and soccer ball. With mitts and bats for the softballs and baseballs, you’re all ready. Another must have item is a frisbee. There are many different types to choose from and you will probably want more than one. They take up almost no room at all!

For the pool, purchase the long noodles (you may want to get these closer to your destination to save room), beach balls, pails and shovels (in case there is sand.) If the beach balls have your destination stamped on them, you also have souvenirs!

While a family load of bicycles may be challenging to transport, scooters and skateboards may be a little easier. Just be sure that each person has a bicycle helmet and the necessary knee and elbow pads! These items can be fouind at any sports store.

If you don’t see what you’re looking for in the sports section of a discount store, check the children’s toy section before you leave. You may find what you’re looking for there.

Finally, if you play tennis or golf and plan on taking that equipment with you, remember to purchase extra balls and tees before you leave.

Happy vacationing!
