Above ground swimming pools are actually a little harder to mantain. Because they are not as sturdy, you may have problems with leaning walls, etc. You also have to fix any holes or tears in the lining that may occur. Also, the edges of above ground pools attract insects such as wasps and bees for nesting.
Whether the pool is in-ground or above-ground, it requires a good bit of daily maintenance to keep up the water quality and conditions. There are considerations of structural maintenance for both pool types, but neither is easier or better than the other. Above-ground pools do not present some of the insurance issues of in-ground pools, but in terms of maintenance concerns, neither is easier than the other.
